Billy Gregg, Jr

Overview

Hello, my name is Billy Gregg, and I live in Phoenix, Arizona where I currently work as an Intervention Specialist, Family Recovery Coach, Recovery Companion, and Sober Escort. My work in the mental health and addiction disorder field started in 1990 and includes clients across a full spectrum of presenting issues: psychiatric disorders, mood disorders, psychosis, substance use disorders, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and process addictions. I have worn many hats throughout my career in adolescent and adult psychiatric settings, addiction disorder treatment centers, intensive outpatient programs, and sober living environments to name a few. Those roles include Behavioral Health Technician, House Manager, Group Facilitator, Family Process Facilitator, Program Director, Business Development Director, Admissions Director, VP of Operations, and CEO.

The origins of my passion for working with families came early in my career. I was working at a center that specializing in mental health disorders and substance use disorders for adolescents. I was invited by the Clinical Director to be trained as co-facilitator of Family Week programs. It was a dynamic program that utilized family systems theory, psycho-education, genograms, role-play, list-work and psychodrama to assist families in beginning their own recovery. Working with families with complex dynamics and attachments developed and honed my skill set for later becoming an Intervention Specialist. The hands-on experience, education, and training I received over the years was priceless, shaping my perspective that individual recovery and healing best occurs alongside family healing and begining thier journey, too. With few exceptions, clients showed exponentially better outcomes and lower recidivism when the family participated in healing and recovery together. So becoming a specialist in Intervention was really a no-brainer, and led me to receive extensive intervention training and education in a variety of specialized models: Johnson Surprise Model, Family Systemic Model, Storti Motivational Model of Intervention and Certified in ARISE®️ Invitational Intervention and Continuing Care. With these varied disciplines in the toolbox along with a well-rounded career, I am well suited for thinking “outside the box” and tailoring every intervention for the unique needs of the family and client.

In my free time I like to watch documentaries and TED Talks, listen to podcasts, writing, and travel. If I’m not spending time with my family, you can usually find me out riding my Harley or planning a scuba trip somewhere.
