Workshop
Take the first step toward becoming a Certified ARISE® Interventionist (CAI)
There are a few options for the ARISE® Comprehensive Care with Invitational Intervention® workshop, including: 6 week online, 3 day online and 3 1/2 day, in-person. All are experiential workshops. Workshops are held throughout the year in the US and internationally by the ARISE® Network in partnership with our sponsoring organizations.
ARISE® Comprehensive Care with Invitational Intervention® can be taken by, therapists, clinicians, counselors, administrators, and experienced interventionists choosing to learn a new model. There are no prerequisites to attend. Workshop participants are eligible for 28 – 33 PCB and CACCF-approved Continuing Education Hours towards the PCB educational requirements for CIP (Certified Intervention Professional) (unless otherwise noted).

ARISE® Internship
Becoming a Certified ARISE® Interventionist (CAI)
ARISE® Internship allows participants (ARISE® Intervention Interns) to practice and apply the ARISE® method on a live case under the guidance of an ARISE® Supervisor. Whether it be an ARISE® First Meeting, an Intervention, or participating in ARISE® Comprehensive Care, ARISE® Interns may join an Internship group at any stage of work with a client and family.
Internship groups are ongoing and run continuously – there is always a group for interns to join. Interns unable to join a weekly group can meet one-on-one with an ARISE® Supervisor through Individual Supervision. ARISE® trainers are industry experts who have years of experience in the fields of addiction and mental health, dual diagnosis, and chronic and relapsing physical and mental health.
Upon completion of 24 Group Internship sessions, Interns will be eligible to receive certification as a Certified ARISE® Interventionist (CAI).
Certification Requirements
- Complete ARISE® Comprehensive Care with Invitational Intervention® Workshop (including pre-training modules)
- Complete ARISE® Practicum (Recommended – not required)
- Submit proof of professional liability/malpractice insurance
- Submit proof of holding clinical licensure/certification OR proof of membership to a professional organization with a governing body of ethics
- Complete three online courses (other courses optional)
- Complete ARISE® Internship (Individual or Group). 24 weeks must be completed (without interruption) as a minimum requirement to reach a CAI. Must be completed to the satisfaction of the supervisor, otherwise additional time (over 24 weeks) may be needed.
Certification Competencies
To receive certification, Interns must show competency in the following areas of the ARISE® method to the satisfaction of the Supervisor.
- Coaching a concerned “First Caller” or other member of support network to mobilize the family and support network to attend Comprehensive Care meetings
- Inviting a Person of Concern (POC) to participate in the ARISE® process and overcoming resistance Assessing for safety
- Removing blame, shame, and guilt
- Developing and using genograms
- Defining intergenerational patterns, as well as understanding the role of intergenerational trauma, loss, and transition
- Defining and using the Recovery Message
- Conducting ARISE® Comprehensive Care
- Understanding the ARISE® method as a process, not an event
- Understanding the need for multidisciplinary professional collaboration
- Practicing ARISE® Comprehensive Care with Invitational Intervention® ethically within the bounds of your existing credentialing and licensure
In addition, you must show that family members
- Are ready to take over chairing Comprehensive Care meetings
- Are sending out brief email summaries of meetings
- Are working effectively as a Family Board of Directors
- Have shifted the focus from the Person of Concern to the entire family
- Are participating in meetings at a consistent level and are working
Pricing Group Supervision/Consultation Standard Registration:
24 sessions $995
If you require additional time in group supervision/consultation:
4 additional wks = $160
12 additional wks = $425
Individual Supervision (via telephone or videoconference):
Individual Supervision can be purchased in 1-hour blocks at $250/hour and can be used in 15-minute increments.

Clarification:
- If you are a licensed professional requiring supervision, this Internship can be applied towards supervision hours.
- If you are not a licensed professional, this Internship will be considered consultation.
- Whether one goes through supervision or consultation qualifies you to be considered to become a CAI.
- If you are a person in recovery, it is strongly recommended that you wait a minimum of two years before pursuing ARISE® Internship. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact us.
Attending Supervision/Consultation As a CAI
We strongly encourage additional participation in Supervision/Consultation to improve knowledge base and skill set. Since the groups run continuously, CAIs may choose to participate in a group whenever it might be helpful. Contact training@arise-network.com to register.
Maintaining Certification
Annual Requirements
- Attest to completing 6 continuing education hours every year. This will be subject to random verification. Approved educational topics for these CEs include ethics, addiction, continuing care/case management, intervention, family systems and/or life-threatening illness, PTSD, trauma, resilience, and topics related to your growth and development as an interventionist.
- Maintain professional liability insurance while working as a CAI. This will be subject to random verification.
- Maintain the ethical standards of ARISE® Intervention Network and the highest credential or professional organization of which you are a member.
- Maintain licensure and/or membership in a professional organization with a governing body of ethics, such as AIS or NAADAC. (If you are practicing ARISE® within an ARISE® Certified Facility, this requirement is waived.)
- Make an annual certification payment. You will be invoiced in January of every year in order to keep your certification current for the following year.
Every Three Years
- Of the 18 relevant continuing education hours required over the course of three years, CAIs must attest to completing 3 hours related to ethics.
- Take an approved ARISE® refresher course

Liability/Malpractice Insurance
Prior to participating in ARISE® Supervision all ARISE® Interns must provide evidence of professional liability/malpractice insurance.Because the Intervention field is in the process of professionalizing, most insurance companies do not yet provide liability/malpractice insurance to Interventionists. Despite this, in anticipation of the standardization and professionalization of Intervention field and in accordance with the requirements of other physical and mental health professions, we do require our ARISE® Interns to be covered by professional liability/malpractice insurance during their ARISE® Consultation.
If you are already insured through another profession, you will not need to do anything other than submitting a copy of your certificate of insurance verifying your existing coverage. It is strongly recommended that you talk with your current insurance carrier about adding coverage for interventions on under your current plan.
Not Yet Insured?
If you don’t already have professional liability insurance coverage, and you do not hold any other credentials, you can apply for a student insurance policy to cover you during supervision. Unfortunately, because intervention is not yet recognized as a profession, many insurance companies do not provide insurance for interventionists-in-training. Currently, the only company that we have found that provides insurance for non-licensed professionals performing ARISE® services is The Van Wagner Group.
Ethical Standards
Prior to participation in supervision, interns must provide proof of license OR membership to an organization with a governing body of ethics. If you are not a clinician, you may apply to be a member of the Association of Intervention Specialists (AIS). All of our interns will meet the requirements for “Candidate Membership” for AIS.

Refund Policy
Classes and Workshops
Canceled registrations less than 3 weeks prior to the training date can be rolled over to a future ARISE® training – no refunds will be issued.
Cancellations more than 3 weeks prior to the intervention training date can either be rolled over to a future ARISE® training or receive a refund of 90% of the paid registration (10% administrative processing fee). Eligible refunds will be issued via check within 2 weeks following the training.
